Myers Park

Elegant homes, tree-lined streets, and a significant number of the city's wealthiest residents.

Welcome to Myers Park

Myers Park, a historic district in Charlotte, is widely regarded as one of the most affluent and esteemed neighborhoods in Queen City. It is bordered by neighboring neighborhoods such as Dilworth, Sedgefield, Eastover, Foxcroft, and South Park.

Renowned for its prestige, Myers Park is synonymous with elegant homes, tree-lined streets, sidewalks, and a significant number of the city's wealthiest residents. The neighborhood holds great significance in Charlotte's history and its overall development, as it was home to many leaders in the textile, banking, and utility industries who played a pivotal role in shaping the area well into the twentieth century.

In 1891, John Springs Myers, a local farmer, and landowner, carved out a section of his property to create the Cherry neighborhood. His next aspiration was to establish an exquisite suburb in Charlotte, which eventually materialized as Myers Park. Countless years of meticulous planning and the collaboration of talented individuals turned Myers Park from cotton fields into one of the most scenic landscapes in the South.

Recognized as the "finest subdivision south of Baltimore," Myers Park gained national acclaim for its transformation and breathtaking beauty. The commitment invested in the Myers Park project was evident, as even the initial homeowners were provided with complimentary landscaping to preserve the neighborhood's allure. Today, Myers Park is listed as a national historic district.

The neighborhood's charm lies in its rows of stunning homes showcasing masterful Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival architecture from the 1920s. The Myers Park ZIP code carries a timeless allure, with its iconic canopy of oak trees, some over 100 years old, perfectly complementing the grand mansions and magnificent gardens that grace Queens Road West, the main thoroughfare. This vision was meticulously brought to life by notable architect George Stephens and designers John Nolen and Earle Sumner Draper, in line with John Springs Myers' original plan to convert cotton farmland into Charlotte's first suburb in the early 1900s.

Within the neighborhood, students from Queens University of Charlotte can be seen carrying books along Selwyn Avenue, while cyclists enjoy leisurely rides along the landscaped loops of Queens Road. Families of all ages flock to the neighborhood's delis, specialty shops, galleries, and restaurants, further enriching the vibrant atmosphere of Myers Park.
